Nu-Glaze Holdings (Pty) Ltd is literally about new glazing! On old or new windows and doors.

Nu-Glaze® came about when the innovator, Johan Otto, needed a solution to the failing clay putty and wood beading on his windows. After having had it replaced for the 3rd time at great costs and hassles, the search was on. The minimum criteria was to find a hard, tough, but easily workable non-metallic material extruded in a shape offering a more or less 45 degree slope. Many crude garage made models to fancy 3D prints and countless hours later, the current profiles ticks all the aimed for boxes and more. Costs & pricing, ease of application, manufacturing, safety and security, versatility and aesthetic appeal were achieved plus some unexpected extras.
The patenting process was initiated in 2007 and soon all the major international markets were covered. Product development started with all earnest. In 2010, an investor, Costi Buccimazza, got involved to further the development and roll-out into the market place.
This co-management model works well by combining skills, knowledge and experience. Johan, relying on his B.Sc. knowledge for the technical and development aspects and on his 25 years in retail for the marketing and sales whereas Costi (B.Comm), is responsible for the important admin and financial side as well as contributing to marketing, adding to his already impressive and successful business portfolio. The company, through it’s Reach & Teach program, actively seeks to empower and launch as many Approved Installers as possible – creating more self reliant business owners rather than creating just mere jobs. Alongside this approach, we also supply to the glaziers and building/painting contractors.

Product Range and distribution.
We have developed a range of products for the glazing of steel, wood, concrete and polycrete window and door frames, creating an exceptionally neat finish. As demand and special needs arise, new profiles are being developed, tested and then added to the range. Constant research and development is key to the Nu-Glaze® philosophy. Architects, specifiers, building consultants, renovators, housing department officials, maintenance managers, engineers, contractors, glaziers and DIY’s enthusiasts uses Nu-Glaze to add value to their projects.
Currently we distribute the S-profile range and the smaller W-profile, in Black or White, as well as the Silicons, Miter Buddy , Miter Shear and the fasteners (U-clips for metal and Inside corners for wood).
We sell both locally and export internationally (USA, UK, NZ and Australia), serving a wide variety of markets. Being CSD registered, we are also supplying Department of Public Works (Correctional services, Schools, Hospitals and Defense Force facilities Maintenance departments). The Department of Housing through the private sector, also enjoys the benefits of Nu-Glaze. Steel window manufacturers has found an increase in sales due to the added value and the benefit of the SANS 613 compliancy and the fact that once again, using steel fenestration is a very viable option without the maintenance factors of the past.

Why Nu-Glaze?
Clay putty has been around for hundreds of years and although it has a relative short life span, messy installation and a slow curing rate, it has never been challenged, mainly due to the supposedly low costs. The amorphous nature of putty causes it to crumble in any and all directions, making it impossible to do any repair work once it starts to fail. If properly painted within a few weeks, putty can last a bit longer, but that and subsequent maintenance rarely happens, with obvious results. In order to paint in a shorter time, some contractors adds too much hardener or even cement to effect faster curing, which causes premature cracking and failure and by the time the putty starts to fail, he/she is gone with your money. The initially low costs is quickly eroded by the repeated replacement costs and high safety and security risks.
It has also been found that birds remove/peck at the clay or silicone gaskets, causing damage and failure – once again, Nu-Glaze profiles were the solution. Uncured putty is also easily and noiselessly removed by burglars.
Wooden beading also has numerous shortcomings. Rotting, swelling and a constant need of maintenance (sanding and painting), which, if not done, causes failure as well. It can also be easily removed by burglars for easy access to your home.
By renovating the existing frames without the mess, inconvenience and high costs of replacements, Nu-Glaze also offer an alternative to Aluminium systems. Renovators of heritage buildings are often restricted to remove the existing frames, so instead of resorting to the same problematic glazing, Nu-Glaze can be used to brilliant effect and with considerable cost and effort savings effect.

Nu-Glaze® SANS compliancy for peace of mind quality assurance.
Nu-Glaze® complies with SANS 613 (SABS and AAAMSA tested), and achieved a A3 rating, A1 being the minimum requirement for residential buildings. Certificates available on request.
This compliancy means no water, air or dust leakage through the glazing from right after installation continuing through it’s entire lifespan. The type of silicone and quality PVC used, ensures every measure has been taken to avoid material failure. The installation process was designed to minimize risk of poor workmanship, however, like the best product in the world, quality inspections are paramount for OEM compliancy.

Nu-Glaze®’s vision is to see every home, school, office complex or block of flats with beautiful windows, with plenty of busy entrepreneurs and businesses, gaining self confidence and pride in earning their own keep.
